Series Spotlight: Housing

Affordable Housing

From public housing preservation to adaptive reuse, explore how city agencies, community organizations, designers, and developers are working to create housing that responds to the city’s most pressing need.

Series Description

Architecture impacts our lives in myriad ways, but there is perhaps no physical space more deeply personal than home. In a city where space is scarce and rents always seem to be on the rise, building affordable housing is always a challenge—but designing residential buildings that are not just affordable but beautiful, welcoming, and environmentally friendly is an even taller order. Fortunately, New York is chock full of innovative architects coming up with creative solutions, and there’s no better to check out the cutting edge of affordable housing design than OHNY Weekend.

Open House New York and Goldstein Hall invite you to tour affordable, supportive, and mixed-income projects across the city with architects, builders, developers, and social service providers who are working to make the city a place every New Yorker can truly call home.
