Building with Steel
Visit award-winning projects and hear from steel experts about new and innovative uses for structural steel, guest curated by the American Institute of Steel Construction.
Series Description
With the invention of the Bessemer process in the mid-19th century, the mass production of steel for things like large-scale construction became possible for the first time. Almost 170 years later, engineers, architects, and builders are still finding innovative ways to use this exceptionally robust material to create dynamic new architectural forms.
In partnership with the American Institute of Steel Construction, Open House New York invites you to participate in a curated series of tours and special events during OHNY Weekend that peel back the city’s facades to look at how steel is being used to support the next generation of landmarks.
