Federal Hall National Memorial is the site where George Washington was inaugurated as the first President of the United States. It is the site where the First Congress met. The original Federal-style building was torn down in 1812. The current hall, a Greek Revival building intended for use as a custom house, was built between 1834 and 1842 by the architects Alexander Jackson Davis and Ithel Townes. In 1862, it became a subtreasury bank, and then served as the Federal Reserve Bank of New York from 1920 to 1924.

Federal Hall offers many accommodations. All visitors access Federal Hall through 15 Pine Street. There is a ramp for people with wheelchairs. A wheelchair is available onsite for loan. Visitors who need sign language interpretation or other specific accommodations may email FEHA_info@nps.gov in advance.
