Brooklyn Banks, a thriving home for skate culture in New York City, closed down permanently in 2010. Its legend lived on digitally via video games, including Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2 and Underground. The space re-opened in sections starting in 2023 following grassroots advocacy by 501(c)3 Gotham Park, through the support and partnership of Mayor Adams, DOT, and NYPD.

Gotham Park is a grass-roots community effort reimagining how spaces under the iconic Brooklyn Bridge in Manhattan can become a new type of urban community park that nurtures connection, curiosity, wonder, and resilience. The bridge is a sleeping giant, a landmark recognized the world over, but it lands in a fenced-off, dark, underutilized parking lot. Gotham Park is transforming that space into a neighborhood nexus connecting and strengthening residents, businesses, and communities.

Sunday tours: 10am-2pm. Tours of NYC skate history & culture on the hour; last tour at 1pm.

10am, 11am with Jay Maldonado, skateboard filmmaker & photographer

12pm, 1pm with Steve Rodriguez, co-founder of Gotham Park and founder of 5BORO NYC

There are no bathrooms or water fountains on-site.

Visitors should stay aware of their surroundings as there may be active recreation (including skateboarding) happening at all times.

Children are welcome accompanied by an adult.
