Did you know a child of self-emancipated enslaved Virginians grew up to contribute to the development of the light bulb? Lewis Latimer was a self taught chief draftsman, patent expert, and inventor who also patented an early air conditioning system. He also wrote poems and shared his love of the arts with his daughters who became artists active during the Harlem Renaissance. Visit the home of Lewis Latimer in Flushing, Queens to learn more about the incredible story of Lewis Latimer and his family, explore exhibition interactives including a selfie printing station, and join us on Saturday, October 18th to participate in a traveling expo, Video Games: The Great Connector. You'll have the opportunity to play collaborative video games, reflect on your favorite characters through drawing activities, and discover potential careers in the digital game industry.
