Explore the dazzling Art Deco lobby of the former AT&T Long Distance Building, which features a ceiling in silhouette glass mosaic, and a large world map fabricated in custom building tile. Designed by muralist Hildreth Meière (pronounced mee-AIR, 1892-1961) in 1932, the lobby earned the prestigious designation of interior landmark in 1991 from the New York City Landmarks Preservation Commission.

Saturday & Sunday Tours: First tour 12:30 pm and last tour 3:30 pm; tours on the half-hour Members of the International Hildreth Meière Association (IHMA) will be on site to give first-come, first-served tours. Tours are 20 minutes each.

Family Programming: Hildreth Meière Scavenger Hunt Guide and Coloring Pages Explore the lobby to discover the four continents, two messengers, gold lines, and their symbols and animals in the silhouette glass mosaic mural on the ceiling. Don’t forget to spot the ship on the map at the entrance wall—then bring the adventure to life by coloring the pages provided.
