Discover The Plains—a groundbreaking apartment building in the Bronx that redefines what supportive housing can be. Developed by The Doe Fund, this nine-story, eco-friendly building provides deeply affordable apartments, comprehensive on-site services, and high quality amenities that allow its residents—low income families and people with histories of homelessness—not just to achieve stability, but to thrive.
Step inside bright, thoughtfully designed community spaces, visit a model apartment, and learn about The Doe Fund’s life-changing wraparound services. Outside, explore a tenant garden where residents grow their own produce, and join a mindfulness, meditation and yoga community activity provided to residents by Kula for Karma.
With a green roof, solar panels, and LEED Gold–level sustainability features, The Plains proves that affordable housing can also be beautiful, efficient, and built for the future. More importantly, it shows how pairing high-quality design with comprehensive support—like counseling, healthcare connections, and community programs—creates stability, dignity, and opportunity for New Yorkers who need it most. Tours will be led by Sharies Lizarra, Senior Director of Supportive Housing of The Doe Fund.
Guests must show valid photo ID and sign in with building security.
Spanish-language translation for the tour is available.
Please be respectful of residents while on the tour - The Plains is their home. Do not take photographs of people without their permission.
