Prime Produce is a one-of-a-kind cooperative space in New York shared by a wide range of artists, makers, thinkers and doers. This 7,000-sq. ft. stand-alone building on West 54th Street in the heart of Hell’s Kitchen is the creative home and launching pad for an ecosystem of New Yorkers who nurture their ideas, cultivate community service, offer imaginative programming, and engage in collective management.
During OHNY Weekend, visitors will have the opportunity to tour the space, learn about its history, and experience the multifaceted programs that members cultivate. Say hello to the turtles and beetles who are part of the interspecies care science-education program Earthlings NYC. Learn about the techno-social systems of “cybernetics” in the Cybernetics Library and even become an artist-contributor on-the-spot. Enjoy games for young people and the young-at-heart (Pokemon anyone? Legos?) and test your knowledge of retro gaming with an unparalleled hands-on collection.
Join a tour of the recording studio or rooftop garden, and be surprised by pop-up performances and art from cooperative members. Become immersed in the eclectic energy and creative genius of New Yorkers from all walks of life, working in community behind the inauspicious doors of Prime Produce!
The first floor event space and cafe are wheelchair accessible, but the second and third floor library, studio, and garden are only accessible by stairs.
Family Friendly: Bring the kids! More than a dozen OHNY Weekend partners are offering special activities for families. Most activities are free and open to the public. Explore more.
