Step inside the last remaining fabric flower factory in New York City — a hidden gem in the heart of the Garment District since 1916. M&S Schmalberg has been handcrafting custom flowers for over a century, serving iconic fashion designers, Broadway productions, milliners, brides, and more. Visitors will tour a working studio where flowers are still made using vintage brass molds, hand-shaped petals, and century-old pressing irons. Learn how plain fabric is transformed into couture blooms and see firsthand the artistry behind a vanishing craft.

This is a rare opportunity to go behind the scenes of a fourth-generation, family-run business that has withstood the test of time — through world wars, changing trends, and the rise of overseas manufacturing. From designers to history buffs to New Yorkers who are just curious about how things are made, this studio visit offers people from all walks a unique window into New York’s rich manufacturing legacy.

Friday Tours: Every 30 minutes; last tour at 2:30 pm
