Founded in 1866, the Horological Society of New York (HSNY) is America’s oldest watchmaking guild. For OHNY Weekend, HSNY invites visitors into its headquarters in the historic General Society of Mechanics & Tradesmen building on West 44th Street.

Visitors will step inside HSNY’s Jost Bürgi Research Library, home to one of the world’s largest collections of books and archival material on horology. On view in the library is HSNY's 2025 exhibit "Early American Pocket Watches." The 42-piece curated collection spans 125 years and includes the earliest known American-signed watch (c. 1715) and some of the country's earliest known watch papers. Guests will also explore HSNY’s watchmaking classroom, where students learn what makes a mechanical watch tick.

Whether you are fascinated by design, engineering, or history, a visit to HSNY offers a rare opportunity to see the hidden world of horology up close and to discover how New Yorkers have measured and mastered time for more than 150 years.

Saturday Tours: Library and classroom tours offered on a rolling basis.
