Historic Neir's Tavern is the oldest continuously operating bar in NYC. There’s been a tavern on this spot since 1829, when it was called the Blue Pump Room. The tavern was re-named Neir’s Social Hall in 1898 when the Neir family took over ownership. Current owner Loycent Gordon is known far and wide as the man who saved Neir’s Tavern when he bought the bar in 2009 and restored it to what it is today. Along with the support of the community and the grassroots Neir’s Ambassadors’ Club, the bar was actually saved twice, and survived the pandemic as well.
This year’s annual Block Party will mark Neir's 196th Anniversary on the “Road to 200,” which will be celebrated in 2029. Visitors can take a small group tour, personally guided by owner Loy Gordon, and/or his Executive Assistant, Kim, who will share history and the highlights before the bar opens to the public. Visitors will hear stories of how Mae West, Anthony Bourdain, Ray Liotta, and others came to be a part of Neir's lore.
In addition to classic bar fare, Neir's menu features the “Goodfella” Burger, a proprietary recipe, and “The Wise Guy” signature cocktail, both of which are a nod to the fact that 14% of the iconic movie “Goodfellas” was filmed on-location at Neir’s.
A wheelchair accessible entrance is available. Ticketholders requiring accommodations should email info@ohny.org by October 13.
No parking is available on site.
