The NYC Department of Records & Information Services (DORIS) invites visitors to tour the Municipal Archives’ storage and research location in Sunset Park. Opened in October 2021, the $22 million state-of-the-art facility is the City's most significant investment in its Archives since the establishment of DORIS in 1977.

Join archivists Cynthia Brenwall, Katie Ehrlich, and Brian Ferree for a 90-minute behind-the-scenes tour of the space and a look at unique archival artifacts, from Mayoral scrapbooks and gifts to photos and historical records of city life!

Getting there and around

  • By FerryNYC Ferry's Rockaway and South Brooklyn routes both stop at Brooklyn Army Terminal. Don’t miss our new audio guide for the South Brooklyn route for a look into the area’s industrial history, available free on Bloomberg Connects
  • By Bike: Sunset Park is well-served by Citi Bike, with stations along 1st Avenue and 2nd Avenue throughout the corridor from 36th to 59th Streets. Citi Bike is offering free bike unlocks on October 17-19—use the code OHNY25 to redeem under ”Rewards” in both the Citi Bike and Lyft apps, and at lyft.com/invite/OHNY25. Bicycle parking is also available at the Brooklyn Army Terminal near the entrance to Building A.
  • By Shuttle: A free Industry City shuttle service connects the 59th Street subway station, Industry City’s 36th Street Food Hall, MADE Bush Terminal, and Brooklyn Army Terminal.
  • By Bus: The B37 and B11 buses serve Sunset Park.
  • By Subway: Festival sites in Sunset Park are best reached by the R line, stopping at 36th Street, 45th Street, and 59th Street. This weekend, the N and D lines stop at 36th Street only and the R will run on a more limited schedule, so allow for additional travel time. 59th Street is a wheelchair-accessible station.
  • By Car: There is a municipal parking lot on Pier 4 at Brooklyn Army Terminal.

Portions of this tour involve climbing stairs; however, there are alternative routes that are wheelchair accessible.

Ticketholders requiring accommodation should contact publicprograms@records.nyc.gov by October 13.

Children 13+ welcome. Every person attending, including children, requires a ticket.
