Coney Island Yard is the largest in MTA's transit system covering approximately 100 acres with a 800 subway car capacity and servicing eight lines for revenue and maintenance functions.

The tour will bring participants to see recently completed flood mitigation infrastructure built to protect this critical NYCT facility in the event of a coastal flood or extreme weather event. There will also be opportunities to see and learn about the yard's day-to-day operations, including maintenance and inspection, wheel and axle repair, and subway fleet overhaul services.

Booking this experience is a two-step process. An OHNY ticket alone does not guarantee admission. Ticket holders must submit a photo of their valid passport or state-issued ID for a background check by Monday, October 6 at 12 pm. Admission is pending until the background check is complete. Instructions for submitting IDs will be emailed to all Ticket holders on October 3 from info@ohny.org. All participants must show their valid, government issued, photo identification on the day of the tour.

Closed-toed shoes and long pants are required. The shop is in an industrial area, and a safety briefing must be conducted before the tour. Everyone must be able to comply with and understand in English a short pre-tour safety briefing.

Coney Island Yard has very limited accessibility. There is no elevator in the facility and it is recommended that people who cannot climb stairs not attend.

No parking is available on site. No photography allowed on site. No children are allowed. Visitors must be 18 or older to join the tour.
