Take advantage of this rare opportunity to launch from the mouth of the Gowanus Canal near Sunset Park! Join the Gowanus Dredgers for a self-guided canoe tour of a fast-changing neighborhood. Launch from the Dredgers' community-built custom dock and tour through the canal's history as an active industrial waterway through its ongoing transformation into a residential neighborhood. Guided audio tours developed by the Unheard-of Ensemble will be available, but are not required.

Gowanus Dredgers offers family-sized, three-seat canoes that are great for kids and adults to share.

Getting there and around

  • By Bike: Sunset Park is well-served by Citi Bike, with stations along 1st Avenue and 2nd Avenue throughout the corridor from 36th to 59th Streets.
