Join Powerhouse Arts for Crafternoons, a series of free, drop-in art workshops for families, kids, and neighbors of all ages. Visitors will have the chance to explore fabrication shops and community studios, and then roll up their sleeves and dive into fun, hands-on set builds inspired by the upcoming performance festival Powerhouse: International. There will also be a chance to win free tickets to one of the Powerhouse: International shows.
Powerhouse Arts, a not-for-profit organization committed to creative expression, stewarded the redevelopment of the former Brooklyn Rapid Transit Power Station in Gowanus to create a new facility that houses fabrication facilities for ceramics, large metals, print, public art, and textiles. The building—designed by Herzog & de Meuron in collaboration with PBDW Architects—re-imagines the historic power plant as a new art center that meets the multidisciplinary needs of the contemporary arts ecosystem, with multi-use facilities for education, events, and public engagement.
Please note: the Grand Hall, Small Hall, and exhibition galleries will be closed to visitors during OHNY Weekend for the Powerhouse: International performance festival. Space is limited inside the fabrication shops and community studios and lines are expected for entry.
Family Programming: 12-3pm

Whether you’re a seasoned maker or just curious to try something new, Crafternoons offers a welcoming space to explore creativity, connect with the community, and contribute to a collaborative artwork that will come to life during the festival.
